Guests Staying in Martindale
📰 We know our AirBNB owners take your leisure seriously, but in case something fell through the cracks, check here for the important stuff you should prolly know about Martindale.
Upcoming Events
Bicycle Rodeo for kids! Come learn about safety, get a helmet (while supplies last) and maybe win one of five bikes!
Pets
Dog leash law & (oppressive) heat
If your furry pet is on vacay, please make sure they are either on a leash or in your arms when out in the yard (if there is no fence) or out and about around town.
When you are out for a walk, please clean up after your pet. (We love to see them, but don’t need to keep their souvenirs.) There are bags available in the green space on Main St between the River Cafe and Duetts.
If you aren’t from these parts, it’s H-O-T hot. Make sure your fur friend has lots of clean water available all the time.
CARs
Parking is a breeze
We have free street parking if you need it. In the downtown area of Main St there is limited parking, but it is first come, first serve.
At the river parks, it is pay-to-park. It is very simple, just use your mobile phone. There are signs posted that have the instructions.
By the way, we love our bike riders and walkers too. So if you are driving around town, PLEASE drive slow and watch for others. Safety First : )
Food
Places to Eat
We have a few choices of places to get food. The Red Barn Cafe is on Hwy 80 right up by the Texaco. It offers “homecooked” food in a restaurant kitchen. (hahaha) It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (only until 7pm so eat early). The River Cafe is on Main Street across from City Hall. It has great coffees, sandwiches, salads, beer/wine. And Duett’s is a honkey tonk. You can grab some fancier food there, plus saddle up to the full bar and listen to some great live bands on the weekend. They also have a small play area for kids and outdoor tables for eating/drinking. There is also a Dollar General that just started a mini-grocery in case you want to get some easy foods to make in your rental kitchen! It is at Hwy 80 just barely past the Texaco and Red Barn Restaurant.
Body & Mind
Self Care
The new Martindale yoga studio is located between Harper’s Vintage Store and the Old Crook’s Store at 415 Main Street. It is called Martindale Yoga and Wellness. They plan to post a schedule soon! Check back for details or stop by and check the front window for postings.
Unnecessary plastic items you secretly love
If you need to buy sundries or toys for the kids…
The closest store is a Walmart. It is at 1015 Highway 80, San Marcos, TX 78666 Phone 512-353-0617. It is open until 11pm. It has a full grocery and a pharmacy. And clothes. And toobs to float the river. And automotive if your tire goes flat or your battery dies, Plus lots of toys. Lots and lots of toys–for pets and kids. (Hahaha)
ice cream!
Nearest Dairy Queen
You know, this IS Texas! Time was they said, “In Texas, as long as you got a flashing red light, you got a DQ in that town.” But not true nowadays. We got us two red lights AND a flashing yella’ light in town but no DQ to call our own. But don’t ya fear…900 Hwy 80! Its a quick ten minutes. Go get you an ice cream treat to beat the heat!
However, we have been seeing a brand new sparkly “ice cream (wo)man truck” wandering around town, just like the old days! Isn’t that exciting? With the music playing and everything! We don’t know her prices, but wave her down and enjoy!
